On what has turned out to be another rainy and cold day here along the Emerald Coast (is the TDD still calling it that?), I had the pleasure of having Fort Walton Beach City Manager Michael Beedie back at Get The Coast to recap last week’s Downtown Stakeholder Meeting.
There was a lot covered at the meeting and to be honest, it mainly focused on the stakeholders within the Downtown footprint. But everyone will be affected by the changes happening in Downtown FWB so I asked Michael if he’d be game to help me keep you updated on the future of Fort Walton Beach.
Here’s what we discussed:
- What is “Around the Mound” and what it will mean for FWB
- The short-term solutions the City has planned for the current traffic problem.
- How “Around the Mound” will help the flow of traffic East to West.
- And what Michael is most excited about with the future plans
The video below is roughly 5 minutes and gives some really incredible insight as to what we can expect to see within the next 5 years.
I think my most favorite part is when I asked Michael what he was most excited about. I did not prep him for that question and just threw it at him while filming. His answer really highlights what I think we all hope to see Downtown become in the future:
A more thriving community.
