Good morning!
Last night, my wife and I went to the “Sips and Dips wine and spreads pairing” event with some friends. I knew that they were doing some mini events because we’ve highlighted their “Breakfast beer & bacon pairing” event on the Everything Show!
Somehow, I missed that this one was coming up but thankfully my wife snagged us all a table.
The private event was simple:
  • You show up
  • Find your table
  • Order some food or drinks before it starts (optional)
  • Then coast through the dips they have paired with select wine
Note: It’s currently 4:45am and I cannot remember the names of the dips or wine. 😩
We started with a Pinot Noir paired with a caramelized onion, mushroom and leek dip. Just to be fully transparent with you: I had no idea what a leek was. [Definition]
We then moved on to a Crawfish Étouffée-style dip with a chardonnay which was probably my most favorite. And the last two were a blue-cheese dip followed by a dessert dip.
We had a great time and it was over right at 8pm. The entire staff was on top of everything and explained each pairing really well (even though I can’t remember most of what they said).
It doesn’t look like they have another one currently scheduled yet but I’m hoping they do more of these. If you haven’t had a chance to try one of The Boardroom Pub & Grub’s mini events, you totally should.

Some quick vitals...

Roadwork update from FWB City Manager
Last week, the City of Fort Walton Beach published a drone video showing some of the work being done on Carson Drive and 3rd Street. Yesterday, I caught up with City Manager Michael Beedie to get an idea on what progress has been made, when the estimated completion is…and…what this redevelopment will mean to the residents who live in surrounding community.

Business owners discuss downtown parking
On Monday morning, BLN LLC met with other Downtown FWB business owners to talk about the parking issues downtown. This meeting comes after the City of Fort Walton Beach declined to approve of the new parking lot lease that BLN LLC proposed after purchasing the property.
BLN LLC owns properties from BOTE down to Plus Skateshop.
The Northwest Florida Daily News captured part of the meeting in the video below. I’m told that the paper possibly has an article coming out today with more details on the meeting.
