Yesterday, a massive search took place for a mother and four children after they were reported missing.
Thankfully, they were found in Okaloosa County.
According to the OCSO, the Crestview mother, Marcella Black, and the four girls went swimming on the Sandbar and then went for a walk on Sherman Kennedy Road north of Baker before getting lost in the woods.
The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office began a search on Sunday night which resumed yesterday morning. The missing family and friend were finally spotted around 11:30 a.m. on a sandbar along the Blackwater River by a helicopter crew from the Bay County Sheriff’s Office.
Although hungry and tired, they did not require medical care. They were found in their swimming suits and barefoot. Black says she lit a small fire overnight to keep them warm.
