On Sunday we will Spring forward an hour and lose a little bit of sleep, but we will gain THE SUN! 🙌 I love when this time of year comes around because leaving the office as the sun is going down is a buzzkill. 😩
Last year there was talk to make Daylight-savings a year-round thing under the so-called Sunshine Protection Act ☀️. Just when we thought this might become a reality, talk of the proposed bill went silent. Now, Sen. Marco Rubio will re-introduce the Act this week.
Rubio filed the legislation in response to the overwhelming approval by state lawmakers of a 2018 bill that says if Congress amends U.S. code it is “the intent of the legislature that daylight saving time shall be year-round standard time in the entire state.” The Florida daylight-saving time bill, which passed 33-2 in the Senate and 103-11 in the House, was signed into law by former Gov. Rick Scott, now the junior Senator for Florida.
While a good majority in Florida are for the permanent change, others argue against it since it would mean mean some December sunrises wouldn’t happen until after 8 a.m.
But what are your thoughts? Do you like an early sunrise or more daylight in the evening?
