By now, I think its safe to say that everyone has either heard, or was affected, by the Brooks Bridge shutdown that happened this past Saturday. The bridge was reopened later that night and crews have been inspecting the bridge.
Now, a crew of bridge inspectors, including two divers, spent about an hour Monday morning beneath the Brooks Bridge according to the Northwest Florida Daily News. According to the report, damage “did not appear to be significant.”
FDOT spokesman Ian Satter confirmed no damage to the bridge’s fender system and said the agency will paint over the areas under the bridge that were scratched to prevent rusting.
“The jolt from the collision was powerful enough to physically shake the bridge.” Michele Nicholson, spokeswoman for the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office.
